About Simple Salary

Who is behind it

I am a UK accountant, a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), with a long career in audit. I built Simple Salary because the calculators I kept being sent to were either cluttered with adverts, vague about which year's rates they used, or quietly wrong about things like student loans and Scottish tax.

Every figure on this site is checked against gov.uk, and each page shows the date it was last checked. The rates live in one place in the code, so when the tax year changes, every page changes with it.

What it does and does not do

It works out take-home pay, self-employed tax, the £100k tax trap, student loan repayments, pensions, bonuses and the other things on the calculators page. It explains the rules in plain English alongside each result.

It is not tax advice. The calculators cover the common cases well, but your own position may have wrinkles they do not see: other income, unusual tax codes, benefits in kind, or company structures. For anything that matters, a conversation with an accountant is worth it.

Privacy

Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere. All the sums happen in your browser. The site counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not track you across sites. If adverts are added in future, this page and the privacy page will say so first.
